The media industry in Mexico has been growing rapidly over the last twenty years. Top of the list includes Cinemex, Evoga entertainment, Grupo CIE, MVS Comunicaciones, Grupo Reforma and Grupo Televisa among others.
Grupo Televisa is a Mexican mass media company and the largest in Hispanic America. It was founded in January 1973 by Emilio Azcárraga Viduarreta. Its headquarters are located at Mexico City in Mexico. Grupo Televisa has a contract with Univision of the United States, where majority of its programs are aired. The company’s market value is 15.6 billion dollars. It operates through segments which include cable and telecom, publishing, and content.
Grupo Reforma is the second biggest printed media company in Latin America and Mexico. It was founded in 1922 by Rodolfo Junco Voigth and serves to publish daily newspapers in five cities. The publications include the leading newspapers in Mexico’s three biggest cities. The company also has alliances with leading United States dailies allowing it to publish their information in its papers.
Cinemex is a cineplex company in Mexico that was founded in 1993 and has its headquarters in Mexico City. It started with a college business plan, and it was until 1992 when the new Cinematography Law was passed in Mexico, that Miguel Angel Davila and Adolfo Fastlicht saw Mexico City a market for a high-end chain of theaters. Cinemex has opened cineplexes in Tijuana, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Mexicali, Toluca and many other cities in Mexico.
Alfonso de Angoitia Noriega was born in January 1962 in Mexico. He is an executive vice president and director of Grupo Televisa, a position he has occupied after 2003. From 1999 to 2003, he served as a chief financial officer of Grupo Televisa. Alfonso de Angoitia Noriega is a key friend to Emilio Azcárraga Viduarreta, the founder of Grupo Televisa.
Prior to working with Grupo Televisa, Alfonso de Angoitia Noriega was a partner in the founding of one of the leading law firms in Mexico; Mijares, Angoitia Cortés y Fuentes, S.C. He later served as the Emilio Azcárraga’s attorney. The two worked together after Emilio’s father died. Their partnership helped to restructure the company legally and financially.
Alexandre Gama is one of Brazil’s most respected entrepreneurs. He is known worldwide for his astuteness when it comes to business. He is well known for his company, Neogama, which is an advertising and communications agency.

Imagina refers to an audiovisual holding company. It has integrated Mediapro with Globomedia . This is where Salvi Rafael Folch Viadero passed his position on the board of directors. Now this position has gone to Rafael Villasante Guzmán who will now look after business development in this company.
Salvi Rafael Folch Viadero will now be the financial director of Televisa. This communication group is under the control of Mexican magnate, namely, Carlos Slim. Today Televisa has a 14.5% control of Imagina. After its merger with Antena 3, an exchange was done with 40.5% control of La Sexta. This is why Televisa has a say in the governance.
Joaquín Balcárcel Santacruz is the legal director of this Mexican group. Another member of the Board of Directors comes from Mediapro adviceWPP. It is an industrial partner of Catalan group. It has 17.1%, control of this Group.
The advertising giant has a new operations director now. Laurence Mellman has taken the place of Enric Pujadas. Another representative on the Board of Directors is José María Sanabria. He is the CEO of GroupM Spain. Next is the investment wing called Torreal. It controls 17.1% on the Board of Imagina.
There are two directors on this Board. These are José Díaz-Rato Revuelta along with Pedro del Corro García-Lomas. Balance 51.3% of the capital of Imagina is controlled by the founders of Mediapro as well as Globomedia.
Salvi Rafael Folch Viadero stated that the company had closed the refinancing of 150 million euros of debt with the bank. Besides, the sales had increased from 780 million in 2007 to 1,530 million euros in 2014.
The workforce of the company has grown from 1,900. Now it is 3,500 people strong. Televisa announced EBITDA as 95 million euros last year. This way Salvi Rafael Folch Viadero has made a difference in the company.
