Mark Hutchinson, the founder of WildArk has chosen to walk in a path only a few people choose to follow. Mark has opted for the path of preserving the fragile ecosystem. He recently shared his inspiring journey as an avid traveler and his life in the wild.
Mark Hutch, as he is commonly known by friends and other people close to him grew up in the region between Queensland and New South Wales. Hutch notes that his father used to move a lot due to the nature of his work, but they settled in Sydney when he was eight years old. When he graduated from school, Hutch went jackarooing in the Northern Territory, and that is where he conceived the idea of driving on the rough roads. Hutch says that he was thrilled by the idea of spending much of his time in the remote wilderness. While he was at the University, Mark had established his training company, which had some significant success. When asked about Untamed, one of his companies, Hutch says that the company focused on taking people the Mother Nature’ s furthest places. He says that his main aim was to host individuals who had everything they could ask for but had lost touch with nature. Mark Hutch and his business partner Anton Lategan met in 2005 while Hutch was undertaking Eco Training course in South Africa, which is a requirement for one to qualify as a guide in Africa. Anton Legan was the owner of Eco training. Hutch says the two had a conversation and realized that they had a lot in common. They embarked on their mutual goal of helping individuals reconnect with nature.

Mark Hutch graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Sydney. After his graduation, he enrolled for an MBA at INSEAD Business School in France. Mark is currently completing a master’s degree in Conservation Biology at Macquarie University. Mark has spent a huge portion of his life in the wilderness.
